■Introduction:

As our first blogpost we will be talking about why we chose age of consent in Japan as our discussion topic.

■Reason Why Each of Us Chose the Topic:

Shohta - I chose age of consent as our discussion topic because I believe people who exploit children regardless of them having sexual intention or not is one of the purest form of evil one can commit, and I can firmly state that they deserve to be put six feet under.

Tadataka - I think that the age of consent in Japan being 13 is way too low when compared to other first world countries and the surrounding countries, and decided to think what can be done to solve this issue.

■Purpose of the Blog:

Our blogs purpose is to inform visitors about the age of consent in Japan and the law surrounding it.

■Our Background Information So Far:

Our knowledge prior to the creation of this blog is that age of consent in Japan is 13 years old for both male and female, and those who have sexual intercourse or other sexual activity with a child under the age of 13 can be charged with statuatory rape. We are also advocating for both gender to be treated equally because if a male above the age of 14 has a sexual intercourse with a female under 13 they are tried for a felony, while a female above the age of 14 has a sexual intercourse with a 13 year old male is only considered a misdemeanor.

■Future Plans of This Blog:

Using this blog we will be providing visitors with such example as,

・What kind of rules and regulations are placed in relation with age of consent.

・What kind of issues age of consent currently has in our country.

・What age of consent is in other countries and what kind of rules and regulation they may have.
